Refuse Derived Fuel Technology Systems
Refuse Derived Fuel or solid recovered fuel/ specified recovered fuel (SRF) is a fuel produced by shredding and dehydrating municipal solid waste (MSW) in a converter or steam pressure treating in an autoclave. RDF consists largely of organic components of municipal waste such as plastics and biodegradable waste. RDF processing facilities are normally located near a source of MSW and, while an optional combustion facility is normally close to the processing facility, it may also be located at a remote location.

Provided Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is properly pre processed it only produces 50kg of CO2/GJ compared with Coal93 kg CO2/GJ and Gas56 kg CO2/GJ at the combustion stage.

A Garb RDF production line achieves this low CO2 value with patented technology and innovative design, our basic process follows the following stages:
  • Sizing (reduction of the range of sizes)
  • Screening in defined steps ( again reduction of the range of sizes, and eliminating fines and inert material before the further process)
  • Detection and separating of unwanted material (e.g., PVC)
  • Fixing different calorific values and/or chemical parameter for different costumers

RDF can be used in a variety of ways to produce electricity. It can be used alongside traditional sources of fuel in coal power plants. RDF can also be fed into plasma arc gasification modules, pyrolysis plants and where the RDF is capable of being combusted cleanly or in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, RDF can also provide a funding source where unused carbon credits are sold on the open market via a carbon exchange

Our RDF plants from are modular in design allowing us to tailor a solution depending on the exact type or source material you will be processing.

Below you can see one example of a RDF plant configuration. Please
